Casual Games Online - Detailed Guidelines

By Brian C. Landry

Are you someone who at work, just needs a little break to unwind the twists of your mind? Do you login to the net to just freely to pass the time? You may be one of the blokes of people who play casual games online.

Casual games online really are like puzzles and small games that you play to pass the time. Usually launched on a web browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you just play at will when you're bored and want to just amuse yourself.

Casual games online are games that don't really take much of your time, thought, effort or money to play. They have simple concepts and mechanics that don't need absolute concentration unlike hardcore games like Gears of War or Starcraft. Their utter simplicity and "user-friendliness" are what keeps them attractive to most people.

There are, however, also games you can play without logging on to the internet. Laptops, iPods, cellphones and other gadgets are embedded with games that are almost the same as the casual games online. Recent technology has allowed us to download, install and share games like Angry Birds or Zuma so we have access to them without connecting to networks.

Angry Birds actually started out like this. They just wanted people to enjoy and play shooting and darting colored birds at green pigs who happen to be frying their eggs. Who would have thought that this simple game can get millions addicted to it since it was launched for Apple. Now they conquered the Androids, and have released a PC version as well. They just recently opened their doors to Windows Mobile.

Simplicity is what keeps casual games enticing to most people. Anyone -from older people to techies -can easily grasp their concepts even just by watching from behind. Thanks to technology, ancient games like Sudoku have been rehashed and enhanced on LCD screens which explain renewed interest on otherwise obsolete games. Text Twist or Hangaroo sustain just enough excitement without taking your full attention. Such is the charm of casual games.

Casual games found online are also called Flash games. Touch screens and touchpads allow us to shoot and point or aim and click, making the games convenient for anyone not concentrating about a certain task. It's safe to say that casual games are the offspring of the multitasking generation -particularly women who comprise 74% of the demographic. It's not to say that they are predisposed to less complicated tasks, although some games are aimed at them like Diner Dash.

Lastly, of course, who has never actually heard of the Facebook wonder, Farmville? Facebook catapulted casual games to new frontiers with built-in games on the social networking site. Farmville started a deluge of other online games that turned into overnight successes. Some of them are Texas Poker, Mafia Wars, Restaurant City, Caf World and many others.

Casual games online may not exactly be rocket science especially to hardcore gamers, but they provide a short breather from people's daily, humdrum life. They may not exactly change our perspectives in general but they do provide a sweet escape even just for an hour or two.
