Yoga training is an ancient philosophy from India which has been practiced for many centuries. It is very spiritual in nature, but it is not in itself a religion or religious practice, and is used by a large variety of people all over the world, mainly because of the wide range of benefits involved. Yoga in general aims to form a certain level of unity between mind, body and spirit. There are, however, many different reasons for practicing this form of exercise. There are generally three main areas of benefits, namely, psychological, physiological and biochemical benefits.

Some of the physiological benefits include a decrease in blood pressure as well as heart rate, increased cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency, as well as normalized digestive functioning. Ones dexterity skills, reaction times and posture may also be improved.

Practicing this type of exercise will also improve balance and fitness, and will likely increase energy as well. It also improves the body alignment and greatly increases flexibility. It is a great way to reduce the negative effects of stress. Concentration, attention and memory may also improve. It also enhances clear thinking and a sense of calm, and can promote self-discipline and self actualization. Many people report increases in confidence, self-esteem and improved social skills

In addition to the physiological and psychological benefits, there are also various biochemical benefits, such as decreased levels of glucose, as well as sodium. Cholesterol may be improved over time as well.

This type of exercise can be both challenging and rewarding, but for nearly everyone, the health benefits and other positive gains are great. It is beneficial to people of all ages, including elderly people who may not be able to participate in many other forms of exercise. It may help in relieving certain pain associated with chronic illnesses. This type of exercise will help to improve overall happiness, as well as well-being and many aspects of health. The functioning of both mind and body will be improved for many people. It has been found that many people who do yoga frequently will live longer lives.
