Take A Holiday Break With A Christmas T-Shirts Party
I have read so many statistics that state that the time period from Thanksgiving to Christmas is when many people get seriously depressed. I'm sorry so many people get sad during this time of togetherness and joy...but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I get so sad during the Holiday season, that I just want to lie down in a dark room and sleep until it is over. It's dark, it's cold, I get reminded of how little money I have, and everyone is stressed. Why wouldn't I be sad, really? I'm determined to not let it control me this year, because this year I'm throwing a party. I'm throwing a Christmas t-shirts party.
Wow! I just felt a thousand eyes roll simultaneously when they read the words "Christmas t-shirts party." You need to quit being a jerk for just one minute and think about it without judgment. It's a perfect way to alleviate some of that Holiday stress that builds up in such a huge portion of the population. It's a chance to drink, be silly, and relax in an otherwise intense time of planning, working hard, and ruining your credit score with purchases of things you surely don't need.
The plan is pretty simple. I want to get my closest friends together, away from everyone's family, in order to get drunk and laugh at each other's silly Christmas t-shirts. I'm going to send out invitations to all of my closest comrades with the clear instructions that there will be no kids present, they have to leave their stress at the door, everyone has to find the silliest Christmas t-shirts available, and they have to get drunk. I don't care if there are people in kitten Christmas shirts laid out all over my lawn the next morning, we're going to have a good time and forget that it's Christmas!
The idea behind wearing the Christmas t-shirts is to make light of the one thing that's making everyone so depressed. It's not as big of a deal as everyone makes the Holiday out to be in their own head. It may be a very special day that is full of familial and religious significance, but it's also just one more day on the calendar. When we're wearing these ridiculous Christmas shirts that have prancing reindeer, cats, and cartoonish snowmen on the front of them, we can take away some of the power the season has over us by drinking and making fun of each other's shirts.
There will also be no gift exchanging. The only gifts that are allowed to swap hands at this Christmas t-shirts party are shots of liquor and glasses of beer. I have a feeling that there are going to be lots of friends who are going to turn my invitation down because they are too busy, too stressed, and too tired. They might as well be saying that they are too sad to come. I will have to talk them all into it, and they will thank me vigorously once they get a few adult beverages in them and realize that having a Christmas t-shirts party was the shot in the arm that they needed to get over their Christmas bug.
