Preview of Shanetris Campbell's Upcoming Book

By Jonathan Tosh

For many of us, the life behind closed doors of celebrities remains a mystery. From outside, it appears they do not struggle with the same inconveniences of "normal", every day people. In her debut book I Am Not My Father's Daughter, Shanetris Campbell pulls back the veil to reveal her life as daughter to Luke Campbell of the notoriously famed hip-hop group, 2 Live Crew. With that said, I give you an excerpt of her book below.

A first-person look at a life repressed and stifled by one of America's best-known First Amendment crusaders, Shane Campbell's story is the proverbial tale of defeat snatched from the jaws of victory, then valiantly metamorphosed into an inspirational story of redemption and salvation. I Am Not My Father's Daughter is poised to become the rallying cry for millions of children like Shane who, emotionally stripped of their self-esteem and self-worth by those charged with protecting them, are left to flounder and fend for themselves amidst an apathetic culture.

Molded by the abuse of my mother and the poisonous venom of my father, I bounced back and forth throughout my childhood from the housing projects of Miami's notorious Liberty City to luxurious environs of my father's mansions and yachts. My adulthood has been equally bipolar - from the insanity of my participation in Miami's sex industry, to my intimate attraction to crude and violent men and women like my father himself, and ultimately becoming a writer and a businesswoman in my own right.

More than just a gripping tale of celebrity, greed, selfishness, and despair, I Am Not My Father's Daughter is a road map to recovery for millions of other "sperm donations" across America; children who have been robbed by their parents of their own self-identities and sense of worth.

"Through this book I hope to make peace for myself and my family," said Campbell. "But I have a much bigger agenda." Proceeds of I Am Not My Father's Daughter will benefit Campbell's new Shane's Precious Foundation, which will provide a range of support services for children and families in crisis.
