How To Learn The Piano At Home

By Andy Penbram

Up till fairly recently the only real approach to learn how to play the piano or keyboards has been to go to regular weekly classes with a skilled piano teacher. You would without a doubt spend a little time mastering how to read music, playing scales and learning a variety of classical pieces. There have always been a few self taught pianists however typically it was simpler and more practical to see a regular piano teacher. An especially efficient way to learn piano these days could be to download a distance learning course to your personal computer containing sound and video piano classes.

You can get the majority of the piano courses for home study on DVD or as a download allowing you to store them and play them from your computer. The quality courses are well designed and will lead you from total starter level to a very high intermediate level. For each lesson there is usually a video file which may show in detail how you should be playing and a collection of audio files containing exercises you can do while practicing and perfecting that particular lesson. It is actually a bit like having a private piano teacher right there with you in your house available for lessons when you have the time.

Being taught this way is very comfy and lots more flexible than the established methodology of learning by attending piano tuition. A heap of practice is still necessary but you may pass onto the next lessons when ever you are prepared. If you do not feel positively comfortable with the present lesson then you are under no pressure to move on, you can also return and repeat prior lessons if you suspect you want more practice. To the contrary, if you're prepared to go to the following lesson then you do not need to wait for next weeks piano lesson to come around, you can move on at any point you are ready.

Learning piano in the luxury of your house has a few benefits but one of the most attractive it that's is truly cost-effective with a distance learning course normally costing roughly the same as 1 or 2 lessons with a specialized teacher. Additionally, as the courses have a non-traditional approach to teaching you will also be learning a few styles and techniques at a time.

To summarise,,, if you use a home study piano course then you will get a genuinely complete experience learning how to improvise, play by ear, the simplest way to read music and chord charts and how to play in several styles or genres. It is totally possible to be able to go from starter level and advance up to a really high intermediate level by employing only one home study piano course.
