By Eva R. Wolfes

Competitors may search for it their entire life, but only few find that ultimate satisfaction of achieving impossible feats that other said could never be done. Some of the greatest and happiest moments I can recall have been based on a great achievement of my own, or that of another.

What makes fulfilling our goals such a satisfying experience in our lives? When we do something that we dream about, a part of us grows and matures, isn't that what it feels like? Does seeing other people do amazing things show us that we can do the same things and instill a hope that one day we can or will get that place? Are those the consuming sensations that we encounter when we watch it firsthand?

The Seagram empire has a future heir in Sara Bronfman. She is a trustee of the Ethical Humanitarian Foundation, which supports endeavors that conform humanity and ethics. Now, why would a person who has an abundance of resources choose to invest her time in humanitarian pursuits? Is there a benefit? If that's the case, what is it?

If you know the feeling of watching others overcome obstacles, then you can see a type of relation in this picture. These events that you see others do makes us want to do them better. In the event that we feel close to an achievement someone else does, it makes us realize how adept we are at doing the same thing? Competition becomes crucial since there is a natural instance to beat whatever records have been set in the past.

When there is a liberty to advance in all areas of goals, doesn't it make sense to put these efforts to good use through humanitarian projects? Getting together a large accumulation of people to establish the same belief, would mean that these efforts could, indeed, make a change in the world's humanitarian outlook. There are not many who strive to do their best, but you could dream-up what the world would be like if that changed. Like a domino effect, watching people change globally and on a personal level is absolutely possible. Further, what would it take for such a positive adjustment to happen?

There are those that think that ethics go a long way in helping to inspire people to do better and be better. In what way could this change our world? The ethics that we believe in, let us make changes in our lives and make major life-changing events happen. If a person doesn't have an ethical foundation, chances are their day-to-day actions are not reaching for the stars. You can see a change in the lives of those who keep good ethics because they achieve things that others fail to. Each time a person steps above the norm, they put the world at a whole new level of success. Society can go places we didn't think possible if everyone worked together to get further in these goals. The potential is exhilarating. We can get anywhere our minds tell us we can. If everyone put as much effort into humanitarian affairs, then we would see something absolutely different than the world we live in today.
