Music, Poetry And Movies - Holistic Arts
Every once in a while the universe comes crushing on us and leaves our soul empty of all its inherent divinity. Society offers no stability, always adjusting the immediate reality without caring for our need to stop and nurture our souls.
Already fitting into the universe pattern, we feel secure when no unexpected event knocks on our door. In our rush through life we keep forgetting to look deeper within us and enjoy the simple things of life like a piece of music, a poem or a movie.
Ordinary people need artists to shape their thoughts into universal elements that can be used in communicating with ourselves and the world. Every piece of art is meant illustrate a meaningful experience or idea that will impress the viewer or reader, appealing to his or her thirst for justice, thought of mercy, need for compassion or desire for joy. Without a subsequent meaning words don't make a poem, notes don't make a song and images don't make a movie, they are only separate elements of something yet unknown. Similar words can be used in different poems, similar notes in different songs or similar images in different movies, without meaning that the different strings of words, notes or images should carry the same message.
Healing the soul is one of the reasons that art exists, a mean of touching this invisible psyche that can be compared only with the way shamanism does for years. Without claiming that the wounds of the body are mild, usually the pain of the soul is fierce and less easy to cure. The 'medicine' of the soul is a 'science' that shamanism has explored for years without exhaustion. An interesting guide on shamanism is the work of Lujan Matus.
Walking through the jungle of the soul without knowing the path is a concern found in every religion, shamanism being usually assimilated with one. Yet notes or words of a profane love poem act the same of a bible guiding you through a storm of feelings up to the final conquest of heaven. Images will start forming into your mind in the same way a producer composes the scenes of a movie.
