This Recently Released Australian Made Film Delights Movie Buffs
A new Aussie picture has just been released that is based on a very successful book for teenagers. The Tomorrow When the War Began movie is based on a novel of the same name by successful Australian novelist John Marsden and it has done exceptionally well since its launching.
John Marsden, a teacher who now runs his own private school in Victoria, Australia ended up penning novels mainly because he was troubled by the lack of interest his adolescent school students showed in reading.
He definitely transformed that condition after the initial novel in the series was launched. In reality his novel was so highly regarded that it grew to become part of the English syllabus in Australian high schools and has turned many a non-reader into an avid reader - certainly when it comes to reading his series of the Tomorrow books.
Now the original book of the series is a successful movie and film buffs of various age groups are queuing up to see it. It's the account of seven teenagers who go camping in the Australian bush and return back from their venture to find their homes abandoned and their loved ones disappeared.
They then go into town in order to find out what is going on only to find their town had been invaded by a unfamiliar army while they were back on their camping adventure. The group do what they can in order to avoid being caught by the enemy soldiers and choose to develop a tactic to diminish the enemy's hold on their town.
It is a thrilling adventure flick that has you sitting on the edge of your seat in quite a few scenes. The movie brings to light just how each personality grows and develops within the tough environment they find themselves in, and looks at the anxieties each must encounter dealing with what is happening to their town and to their parents, who are being held captive at the district showground. There are enemy soldiers keeping guard over the main streets so they must remain vigilant so they don't get discovered.
The film was produced in Australia at a few of the beautiful wilderness regions of the Hunter Valley and Blue Mountain areas, and the action shots were mainly filmed in Sydney at Fox Studios.
