The summer months seem to be filled with parties, BBQ's and weddings, creating the perfect opportunity to make gorgeous party decorations reflecting not only the season but also the formality or casualness of the affair.

With a little effort and lot of imagination, creating the perfect party decorations needn't be a chore. Firstly, take into consideration the overall theme that you are aiming for and the formality of the occasion. Table linen can be equally important in creating your perfect summer party decorations; these can be either formal or informal, depending upon the occasion. Lace and eyelets work well on any cloth in any season and for the more formal occasion you can brighten up the decorations by either creating a runner from brightly coloured cloths or layering, ensuring the colours chosen match the rest of the table decorations and place settings.

Place settings are important and will be different depending upon the occasion. For instance, your outdoor garden party will not need as formal a setting as that of an indoor dinner party. Whilst white crockery is versatile, you can add flavour by choosing to mix and match a variety of different coloured pieces for an outside party, they don't necessarily have to match, just be brightly coloured and similar in style.

When considering party table decorations take into account if the occasion calls for favours. They not only give the evening a finishing touch they can be wonderful additions to your overall theme. Consider miniature teacups in different colours each containing a small sweet or gift and if the occasion demands then also add a name card to each place setting. For outdoor events you could use brightly coloured bunting, such as Chinese lantern strings hung around your sun parasol, or a variety of garden torches with brightly coloured candles and for indoor events consider using large artificial flowers in vases such as sunflowers or balloons reflecting your colour scheme.
