A Santa Letter Made Santa Seem Alive and Real to Me When I Was a Kid
Believe it or not, writing a Santa letter is one of my favorite parts of the Christmas season. A Santa letter is when I first start to think of all the wonderful things that Christmas brings. Letters to Santa really made Santa Claus seem all the more real to me when I was young, and I still cherish the Christmas moments I have today when I write my Santa letters.
When I was little a Santa letter was a way to put my hopes and wishes on paper and tell how good I had been the past year. It was magical to me that a letter I wrote could make it all the way to the Santa Claus house in the North Pole. It was amazing to me that Santa would get my letter and know what I wanted for Christmas. Nowadays it has become a tradition with my family to write a Santa letter. Even with the modern Christmas twist of writing our letters through email, it still means a lot during Christmas to get all the children together and write our letters.
How much more would a Santa letter mean, though, if you knew it was going to be responded to? Every child that writes a letter to Santa Claus would be ecstatic to see that Santa got their letter and actually wrote back to them. Though sending a letter all the way to the Santa house in the North Pole is amazing, what if a letter came back from the North Pole?
Just think of it. A letter, or letters if you have multiple children, that came from Santa complete with a Christmas stamp and post-marked from the North Pole. It is as simple as finding some Christmas paper, learning to write in large, swirly letters, and you make your children more excited about Santa Claus than ever before. A letter from Santa Clause at Christmas time puts a whole new meaning to "Santa Letter".
There is a few fun things that you can do for your own personal Santa letter. Along with the Christmas paper, Christmas stamp, and being postmarked from the North Pole, you can add some other Santa personal touches. One great thing to add that makes it seem personally from Santa, and personal to your child, is to add their name to the letter. A Santa letter should surely have their name printed, and make the words simple and easy to read and as if Santa knows the children personally.
One year my parents went crazy with all the children's Santa letter. It was, of course, addressed in our name but they went even further than the Christmas paper. They added North Pole deer prints to our Santa Claus letters, and kisses from Mrs. Claus. They added milk stains from Santa, and they even perfumed the paper with a Christmas Cinnamon smell. That Christmas Santa letter was my favorite so far. I still have it, though the Christmas Cinnamon has faded.
Just remember that you don't have to stay boring at Christmas. Make your Santa letter fun for your child, or children. Make this Christmas one that your child will remember forever because of their special, personalized Santa letter. A letter from Santa Claus around Christmas will mean more to them than you know.
