The Differences Between Team Fortress 2 Classes On Gameservers

By Christa Garrett

When it comes to game server, some are just better, and a bit more advanced than others. The popular online game, Team Fortress 2 has some of the best servers available associated with the game. The best functionality available on a gameserver to date, meaning fast speeds and no clipping, is something you can expect from a TF2 server.Part of the reason for the popularity of the game is the high quality of the game server that hosts it.

Based on different skills and abilities, you will face 9 different classes when playing on the TF2 server. These are then further broken down into three different subclasses. These categories are based around support, offense, and defense. Playing within the classes is a way to ensure that you are using the right skills and abilities for your missions, but you do not have to play within those parameters.

The Medic, the Spy, and the Sniper are the characters with specialized skills in the support category. The purpose of these characters, the name implies is to provide support, indirectly, to aid with the successful completion of missions. The Medic is charged with keeping teammates healthy, and, well, alive. The Spy can be indistinguishable from other players by cloaking himself, and providing reinforcements from afar is the Sniper.

The Solider, the Scout, and the Pyro are part of the offensive category. While being the weakest of the bunch, the Scout makes up for it in both speed and agility. Not nearly fast, but far more durable and tough than the Scout is the Soldier. And finally, the Pyro is one tough baddie. He launches all sorts of fire based offensives at his enemies, protected by being outfitted in a gas mask and fire retardant suit. Obviously, by the name of the category of classes, this is the "front lines" of any mission.

The final category in Team Fortress 2 is the defense category. There are three classes contained within this subcategory including the Heavy, the Demonman, and the Engineer. In the event of an attack, this is what you will need to use as these classes are charged with handling all matters defensive. Though slow, the Heavy is tough. The Heavy can sustain the most damage of all the classes on the game. By eating, his health is easily replenished. Armed with two different styles of grenade and rocket launchers is the Demonman. His main purpose is to combat, indirectly, attacks. And finally, the Engineer provides on the spot defenses for his teammates.

The class you choose to play with will be dependent on your interests and specialties, but also the side of the battle you find yourself on. All with their fair share of strengths and weaknesses, each of the nine classes is divided into three different subcategories. It is often vital that you take into account what type of battle or game mode you are playing, as well as what classes your teammates are choosing, when it comes to selecting your own. Keeping all these things in mind, go out and have a fun gaming time!
