Learn To Read Music Quickly

By Judy Jones

Many people want to learn to read music but they often think it is difficult and near impossible to start. This is not the case and it is a lot more fun than you would think. It all begins with the choice to learn something new.

When learning how to read music you will need to start at the very beginning. Learning to read music is a lot like learning a new language and it can only be done with practice and time. It is also a lot more simple than many people would believe.

Both teachers and books on their own can teach you these skills but you need to decide on what will work for you. If one method does not seem to be working then you might want to think of other ones. In any case, you will find something that works for you.

Books on the subject are numerous but there are many great ones. Books often come in levels so that you know you should begin at the first level and then work your way through the series until you have become accomplished at reading music.

Once you begin learning the different notes you can start playing them on your chosen instrument. The more you learn the more you will play and you should practice as often as you can. Reading and playing only becomes easier with practice and with time.

Practicing your new skill should be done often. The more you practice reading it the more your instrument playing will flow. You do not want to have to stop every time you play in order to read it.

It may take some time to be able to read as well as you would like but it will happen with time. The faster you are able to read the better you will play and soon you will be playing the more complicated pieces.

Once you have got the hand of playing the more simple stuff you will begin to advance to higher levels of playing and reading. This will come with time but soon you will find it only become easier. As you pass each level you will find more advanced symbols and play better.

Teachers are always great when you are learning something new but do not think that you have to have one to learn. They may be able to help you learn faster, however, so it might be something that you should think about if you are interested in learning music.
