Toledo Cacao Festivals, A Chocoholics' Paradise

By Cecilia Owens

Chocolate originally came from Central America and is made from the cacao plant. It is not only delicious, but a part of the culture of the region. The chocolate making tradition has survived to the present day, and is still going strong in the region. A premier event for chocolate enthusiasts and chocolatiers is the Toledo Cacao Festival, held in the Central American nation of Belize, May 20th to May 22nd.

The event promises to be great fun and a family friendly activity for anyone in the region. After all, everyone loves chocolate. Even so, this is an event for a good cause. The Toledo Cacao Grower's Association is an organization devoted to improving the conditions of farmers in the area. The chocolate grown here is made using all organic cacao, as well.

There has been a multitude of seafront activities planned for visitors to enjoy many taste tempting treats from Belize. On the first evening there will be a host of delightful treats from the foremost chocolate makers of Belize. A wine tasting event from the leading wine makers of Belize will also accompany the chocolate fest. The night will be capped off with a lavish display of fire works.

Belize's Beautiful coastline in the Caribbean offers activities like snorkeling and hiking for all visitors on the second day. Music and chocolate making is available for adults while their kids are taken care of with different activities with free cacao.

During the final night, learning about ancient Mayan culture gets the top priority in the ancient Mayan site of Lubaantun. An expert in Mayan study, music and dancing, a guest archaeologist will entice festivalgoers.

The Toledo Cacao Festival extends to you the joyous opportunity for tasting oodles of scrumptious chocolate, plus the chance to experience the captivating culture of the area. You will never be at a loss as to what to do in Belize as you can walk the gorgeous beaches, explore the magical rain forests, and reconnoiter the timeworn remains of Mayan temples. What an awesome tourist destination, a paradise overflowing with the essentials for adventurous good times, welcoming any and all who venture to its shores
