Death Of Love Through Cheating Text Messages

By Amie Rutledge

The growth of mobile phone technology incorporates the ability to exchange written messages. This process is called texting and is accomplished via SMS, a popular service protocol developed in 2005, with a global market of 2.4 billion users. Socially interactive messages with sexual context are referred to as sexting. Cheating text messages are considered such when either or both participants are engaged in another committed, romantic relationship.

The convenience of texting made mobile phone technology a valuable, irreplaceable communication tool. Instant camera access, as part of mobile phone devices, redefined worldwide communication capabilities. When used to relay pornographic, prurient or sexual images, mobile phone technology opened a can of worms with legal and moral implications.

The world is seeing disastrous consequences affecting public figures that were not circumspect with their sexual proclivities while texting. Compulsiveness and poor impulse control has resulted in many, formerly respected, powerful, well-known personalities on the tail end of jokes, humiliation and scorn, which not only affected their lives, but loved ones.

When the need for privacy is necessary, telecommunications today enables chexting, which defines the exchange of intimate messaging between a disloyal mate and third party. Chexting can be carried on in the presence of others through written, non-verbal contact.

The dawn of the Internet age and the popularity of social networking has made 'airing your dirty laundry' a global event. It is easy and feels, deceptively, discreet and impersonal. The validity of viewing chexting as cheating is in the fact that seven states still allow spouses to file 'alienation of affection' suits against alleged paramours who have interfered in a primary relationship. Today there are search sites that scan the social networks tracking the suspected cheater's online trail of activities.

A loving, marital relationship that is damaged via alienation of affections as a result of interference by an outsider has just cause to file suit in the 7-states that uphold this law. These states validate the destructive impact of emotional affairs, irrespective of physical involvement. A recent North Carolina lawsuit resulted in a $9 million award for damages to the injured spouse, validating the deleterious consequences of chexting.

Intimacy is damaged through breach of trust. Most couples desire honesty and openness in their relationship. It provides a sense of security and creates emotional bonding to the one who meets that need. When open communication is absent, trust is undermined and feelings of security in the future can be crushed. Cheating text messages keep secrets that damage intimacy, destroy trust and end relationships. Read more about: cheating text messages
