Why Is It Easy To Connect With A Thomas Kinkade Piece

By Anne Harvester

Many different artists show their paintings at galleries. However, few are lucky enough to become a household name. Thomas Kinkade seems to have managed to reach that status with his paintings and other collectibles selling at an outstanding rate.

Many of his paintings depict the natural beauty in the world. His artwork is typically of snow-covered scenes, main streets, or gardens. The idea is to capture the small joys in the life that make it worth living. Many times, hidden with the artwork, is a small image that indicates where his inspiration for the painting came from.

While there is little doubt that he is a very talented artist, it seems his true genius is shown in his ability to know what the people want. His work is transferred from oil and canvas to many other collectible items seamlessly. This has made his work even more desired by collectors

His work is easily recognizable by the light that seems to jump out of the paintings. He has described himself as "Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light", which has been trademarked. He has also achieved the notoriety of being recognized as the most collected artist in America.

Despite his popularity, he has had his share of critics. Many feel he has over saturated the public with his art and made it much to commercialized. This is due to his allowing his work to be sold on home shopping networks, online, and at many shops that specialize in collectibles

However, the feelings of the critics do not seem to matter to the public. Thomas Kinkade paintings and other collectibles continue to sell all over the country. It has been estimated that one in every 20 homes in America has one of his collectibles in their home. They seem to connect with the purchaser and bring a feeling of peace and comfort.
