Follow in the Roman footsteps

By Bradley Chandler

Rome has always had a rich history and when we think of Rome we get a picturesque idea of the Coliseum, gladiators, awe inspiring paintings and sculptures. Huge battles are a big part of the Roman experience of days gone by, the Trojan horse, and various traditional stories that have been re-enacted throughout the years through music, film and novels.

Follow in the roman footsteps on your next Bristol short breaks and get closer to all of these classic experiences, and wealth of historic tales, that make up the area's culture and history. It's a great place to enjoy a truly unique vacation experience, be thrilled with the passionate tales, and be in awe of the rich works of art. Not to be missed are one of the many spa facilities and huge leisure establishments, the perfect places to relax and unwind before or after enjoying everything that the city has to offer.

A great way to start your day is to visit the Brunel museum which focuses on the famous architectural achievements that Rome is praised for creating. You can learn about the design and unbelievable amounts of labour that went into designing the first tunnel that was completely submerged underwater. There is also the Transport museum that shows all kinds of classic vehicles that were used in public transportation, as well as spectacular and often unused, or experimental vehicles, never fully implemented into the public transport system of the past. The Imperial War museum is another great way to take in all the conflicts surrounding the nation from early on until today. This is a great way to see a variety of age old weaponry and how technology has changed over the ages, from Rome's early footsteps, up until the modern armouries' available today.

For those of you looking to get deeper into the traditional roman culture then a trip to Rome is indispensable, make sure to book your weekend breaks in Rome. Magnificent selections of the Roman experience will be just moment's way, such as the Coliseum, allowing for plenty of time during short breaks to explore the rich and industrious history of Rome.

For those of you looking for a more relaxing way to enjoy the area, there is still the Roman baths left for you to enjoy. They are modelled much like they were centuries ago, and can be enjoyed by anyone in the family. When you stay at one of the Bristol hotels, you can simply make it to Bath Spa to the Roman baths where you can visit the spa, and enjoy your own treatment at the new Spa in Bath.

When planning your future breaks, why not consider following in the Roman footsteps of old by staying in one of the many hotels Bristol has to offer. Create a holiday experience of a lifetime, soaking in the history and culture of Rome while also enjoying the pampering you so deserve at one of the beautiful, Roman baths, a true Roman experience.
