The Best Female Tattoos

By Robert Barlow

There are a lot of famous women who are known for their tattoos. Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie, and Kat Von D proudly display their ink in very prominent places on their bodies. Even though this seems to be a celebrity trend, visible tattoos still aren't suitable for everyone. For instance, sporting visible tattoos on the job might not be suitable for women who work in a professional environment. This is not to say that "professional" women can't, or shouldn't, get tattoos. But, they should carefully consider the location of the tattoo, opting to place it in an area where it won't be visible all of the time. A woman in this situation might also find it better to go for a tattoo design that isn't too loud, flashy, obnoxious, or at all offensive to others.

In the current society, a tattoo is now accepted more. Basic patterns like hearts, stars, and flowers are put in unusual places such as the top and sides of the foot, but more detailed tattoos of pictures like animals are usually placed on the sides, arms, and shoulders. If a tattoo has more details, then it will require more space. Attempting to put a whole scene or drawing on top of your feet can be difficult even for the best tattoo artist.

A very good location for an woman's initial tattoo can be the low back. The area is less sensitive, making the process easier to tolerate. This area also allows for modesty when it's called for or desired. Butterflies, flowers or fairies are common design choices for this location; Britney Spears has a fairy famously etched on her lower back. Scripted designs are becoming more popular recently; text from a favorite book, quotes, or even the names of a spouse or children are all excellent choices.

Tattoos aren't for everyone, though. Individuals who are fearful of needles, blood, or have a very low threshold for pain will probably find getting a tattoo to be a very unpleasant experience. However, doing some research prior to getting the tattoo can help to ease any fears related to the process. It can also help to answer any questions about the process; like what type of ink and needles are used, and how these items will affect different skin types. One group of persons that should not get tattoos are pregnant women. This is for the safety of their unborn child. Another group of individuals who should abstain from being tattooed are those who have consumed alcohol. This is because alcohol thins the blood and can interfere with the efficiency of the tattoo artist's work.

Your options for a tattoo are truly endless, and should reflect something of meaning to you. This is a big decision, as your tattoo will be a part of you forever. True, you can have your tattoo removed should you change your mind, but it's a painful and expensive process that offers no guarantees. Think about your design, where you want it placed, but most of all, think about whether or not you want to live with this tattoo for the rest of your life. Tattoo choices are different for everyone because they express the individuality of a person. Making the choice of having a tattoo is a very important decision because removing a tattoo is expensive and painful. Only the person that is getting the tattoo should make the final decision.
