Finding A Good Guitar Teacher

By Jack Wogan

If you are taking into consideration starting guitar lessons then you should know that there will be many decisions that you will have to take. In the beginning you will have to decide whether you want to invest in a second hand guitar or maybe a new one. Another thing that you will have to figure out is whether you are going to learn how to play guitar on your own or you are starting to take some lessons from a teacher. Learning how to play an instrument is definitely an activity that you will have to dedicate some time this is why you should figure out right now if you need someone to teach you or you can pull it off on your own.

The teacher you hire should be a talented person that will be able to make you love the guitar and no hate music. During your learning process you will have to have the full support of your teacher and he/she will have to give you some valuable insight and to monitor your progress. Here are some important things that you will have to look for in a teacher.

1.Communication - This is very important between to two people and this applies to you and the teacher also. Make sure that you can talk to your teacher if you are interested in learning something new. Ask questions when you don't understand something. Being afraid to talk to your teacher will surely not create the right learning atmosphere.

2. When you choose your teacher you should make sure that he/she is a talented musician and also that she/he is relaxed when teaching. Any teacher that puts unlimited pressure on students is definitely not a very good teacher as this is not the way to teach anyone, anything. Nobody can learn to play music if the teacher keeps yelling and looking at him angrily. When you notice that your teacher gets nervous all the time then the best thing that you can do is to simply part ways.

3. When you are choosing a teacher you should make sure that you hire someone that will be an inspiration. One thing is very true: if your teacher is not interested in guitar music then you won't be either. When you come across a passionate person then you can be sure that you will inherit that passion also.

4. It is important that your teacher explains the entire lesson and not only half of it. Someone that will teach you only some details and leave some out is definitely not doing a good job.
