Blue Willow China: Simply Tasteful

By Todd Alan

The blue willow china is an elaborate, distinctive and classy pattern designed in most ceramic housewares in china. The person behind this famous design is Thomas Minton. Since the day that he designed this pattern it's been used for more than 200 years. The background color that is utilized to make this type of design is always color white. On the other hand, the foreground color or colors wholly relies on what the maker wants to choose. Usually they might decide to use the color blue but other colors like brown, yellow, green and a lot more can also be used.

The precise origin or inspiration of the pattern is not known. There are people who say this pattern originally came from England. It was recounted that Minton gained inspiration from an old Chinese design. Some people say the original work or design that he saw hasn't got any bridge with persons on it which gave rise to doubts if the stories associated with it really came from the country of England or China. There are persons who say the story was initially from China and the Crusaders were the explanation that it reached England. In addition to this debate on where it truly originated, there also are 1 or 2 debates on what the story was truly all about.

One of the versions of this story is the Chinese history. It is said that these plates are the discrete but easy way of the Hung Society to rebel against the well known Manchu rulers which were seen as malignant tyrants. The persons who are concerned in this society respect their dead comrades by calling them martyrs. In connection, it was said the Manchu rulers demolished all the plates that were made by the Hungs. The plates was claimed to be smuggled to England and after 1 or 2 years it ultimately came back to china.

Another version is the Romantic Myth. In the Romantic Fable it was related that there where two lovers who are kept apart because of the difference of their social status. When the girl was about to marry a Duke that her dad selected she ran away with the man that she loves to an island. Finally, the duke found out where they where hiding and intended to take vengeance but then the Gods were moved by the love that they exhibited and so they made the young lovers into doves.

Anther story is that of the Secret Shaolin Message. In the Secret Shaolin Message it was declared that these plates shows the tale of what has happened to a monastery of the Shaolins that were burned by Manchu rulers. The doves are the souls of these monks as they enter their immortal life.

Irrespective of where these plates originally came from nothing would change the fact that the blue willow china are all simply stunning. It is certainly an artistic work that any artist would be pleased with. It exudes the finesse in every intricate design that is on it.
