Creating Your Own Wind Chime Using Various Materials

The origins of the wind chime date back to Ancient China. Back then, these were musical instruments involved in sacred ceremonies as well as special events. It played an important role in the Chinese belief of Feng Shui. From China, the use of the wind chimes was adapted by other Easter countries.

It's no surprise that people are attracted to the beautiful sound of wind chimes. Their soft tinkling during a passing breeze was said to be the bearer of good fortune, prosperity, and health.

Assembling a wind chime is not hard at all. Using materials that are commonly found such as metal, shells, glass, or even bamboo, one can create a wind chime with a little imagination and simple instructions. To enhance the look of a wind chime, other materials such as plastic, stones, or existing ceramics can be added to it. The wind chime can also be added to other decorative items such as a lantern.

Wind chimes are often made of hollow wood tubes or rods which are easily painted with varnish to keep the chimes safe from the elements such as heat and water when it is displayed outside of the house. By selecting the right materials one can surely make sturdy wind chimes that can last a long time.

For glass materials, there is a variety that one can choose from. A few common glass materials are the bottle, crystal beads, and glassware.

To create deep solid tones, one should use metal as the material. By adjusting the angle of certain placements of the components and the way the materials are tied up, the tune alters. Plus, the kind of metal affects the tune.

Deep solid tones may be produced by wind chimes made of metal. By adjusting the position of certain components and the way the materials are stringed, the tune may alter. The kind metal also affects the tune.

Now that you have an idea on the materials, you may want to make your own. Since there are a lot of designs available out there, it is advisable for you to search first the design from magazines or periodicals and make a list of the necessary materials. Then, you may start to create your own wind chimes.
