Totally Free Tarot - The Basic Of Tarot Reading

By Ramon van Meer

Probably the most well-known version of the Tarot was established in 1910 by the artist Pamela Colman-Smith. She worked under the guidance of occultist A.E. Waite. The Waite deck was the first tarot deck to consist of symbolic imagery on all 78 cards. The tarot has its roots in a lot of several philosophical and religious backgrounds. It originated in a time imbued with symbolic imagery that was influenced by numerous cultures, languages and historical references. The tarot's symbolism is according to archetypal elements and metaphors, giving its imagery an universal appeal. Regardless of ones cultural, religious or educational background, the Tarot experience is collective. Their interpretations are recognizable by every person.

The modern Tarot deck is comprised of 78 cards, 40 in the minor arcana, 16 court cards and 22 cards that make up the key arcana. The 16 court cards consist of pages, knights, queens and kings. The 4 suits within the minor arcana consist of the Suits of Cups, Swords, Wands and Pentacles. Each and every Suit is connected to one of the 4 elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They are also connected to the 4 directions: North, South, East and West. The imagery of Tarot reflects an association to these elements. This enables the tarot reader to identify the important aspects which are influencing a specific situation or individual.

The Suit Cards - In tarot, the cups suit represents the dream globe, the unconscious, feelings and relationships. The wands suit represents fertility, creativity and ones sense of purpose or career endeavors. The sword suit represents reason, life challenges, the mind and truth. And lastly, the pentacles suit represents the material, financial and ethical aspects of a person's life. There is a king, queen, knight, and page in every suit as well. They're referred to as the court cards and each 1 (excluding the page cards) has an astrological sign associated to it. This adds but a further level for interpretation in tarot card readings. To be useful, here are the astrological associations. I generally encourage individuals to identify their sign as well as the linked tarot card meaning. This can offer tremendous insights into ones strengths and vulnerabilities.

When the cards are pulled and placed in a spread, the tarot reader will start to interpret the symbols of the cards. Often they are going to point out the implications of the past, what is happening in the here and now, and what will influence your future. You could ask certain questions and additional tarot cards may possibly be drawn for precise areas of your life. The configurations the cards are placed in add to the complexities of their meanings.

The tarot's energy lies in its ability to distinguish a person's path by way of the psychic capability or intuition of the tarot reader. In some circumstances, a psychic tarot reader will rely mainly on their own psychic abilities to interpret the cards, while a non-psychic tarot reader will rely more on the tarot card meanings themselves. Either way, trust the cards can do their job and ask a lot of questions.
