By Glory Mumbower

Wedding photographers often feel some need or requirement to incorporate the bride and bridegroom in nearly every shot when photographing a wedding. Nevertheless while the day is all about them, photographs featuring only them will document only a small portion of the day. Weddings are besieged by hundreds of smaller stories and events which all interconnect to form the main event.

The bride-to-be and groom are of course the centre of attention for the wedding photography on their wedding day, but they don't seem to be the entire story.

A wedding also involves acquaintances and family, plenty of whom may not have seen one another in a considerable time. There is a lot of catching up to do, a reunion of a kind. The bride and groom have made a social gathering concerning everybody who is crucial to them and they are going to want these guests to play a very sizeable part in the day. A wedding photographer is accountable for capturing the wedding day in its totality and that implies looking around the sidelines seeking out special moments and interactions between guests.

The average amount of coverage at a wedding is split as 60 percent focused on the bride-to-be and bridegroom, and key wedding moments, and the other 40 p.c on reaction shots and sideline events. The primary purpose of a sideline shot is to here the client say "I am happy you caught this, because otherwise I would haven't known." It is the shots on the sidelines of the main event which give depth to your coverage of the day. Guaranteeing great sideline shots is dependent on the photographer's photojournalist talents. These include understanding of man's instinct, patience and a drive to seek out stories as well as technical skill.

A shutter-bug should keep in contact with their own curiosity and follow their instincts when it comes to looking for shots on the sidelines of the key event.
