It is very important that you learn guitar scales when you start playing the instrument. Of course the benefits of know these can go through to your soloing. Scales do not only create the base for your knowledge of the instrument but will also help you hone in skills that are vital to a solo.

When people start learning an instrument the scales are the first thing they are taught. There is a reason for this and it is important that you are aware of this. A scale will let you become accustomed to what certain notes sound like. They are also a great way to learn how to read music.

There are a lot of skills that you can train by doing scales that are important to have for soloing. Having knowledge of the finger movements to produce notes and the ability to change between them easily are two of these skills. Building up your technique is also something that can be done through the learning of scales.

When you learn this you will often also learn how to use the scale in a melodious way. Being able to connect different notes to each other in a manner that is not grating is very important for soloing. Having this application skill comes much easier if you start with the basics like scales.

Soloing has a certain improvisation about it that you have to train to be good. To help your improvising training your ear to pick up notes is very important. This training of the ear can be easily done when you do your scales. The reason for this is that the scale helps you identify the note on the guitar through repetition.

If you learn guitar scales you will be improving your soloing in a number of ways. You will be honing in your ability to identify notes by ear for improvising and also increase the success of transition from one not to another.
