A Slice Of Life For London Printers

By Laurence Hobbs

A few days ago the Brightside group attended their yearly expo and there was a measurable increase in activity from the previous year. This coming from one who doesn't study Economics! There was noticeably improved excitement in the showcase area. Our aim is to become the best London printers.

Even though there were less exhibition booths this year (great for us) the potential customers had plenty of valuable questions and interest. Are advertising resources increasing? I'm not sure but this was definitely an indication that the times are improving!

This previous week, even if extremely demanding, was the beginning of great things for Brightside. Our newer members of our sales team had learnt quite a bit. Our senior sales staff noticed it clearly from what they'd learnt from the year before.

Last year's attendance although successful in it's own right, was Brightside's first tradeshow. Inevitably improvements were going to be made.

Now however, the hard work really begins. (Although at the time nothing could have seemed harder than standing on one's feet solidly all day.) All of the leads are being followed. The gentleman that is looking to re-brand; the lady that has a conference that needs to produce an executive delegates pack is getting a call; the marketing manager that wants to source a print company with their own graphic design studio that can design their annual report is getting a call, and so on.

It is a waste of time and money to obtain all of these sales contacts unless you're ready to show that you are ready to provide first class customer service.

We've only recently decided to participate in this exposition "annually". This year's opportunity popped up unexpectedly giving us a little time to get ready.

Our designers worked tirelessly. The handouts were created, the foamex boards made and the pantone colored snacks prepared: London print projects are always exciting. We'll have this process down to a fine science next year.
